the thinker

The Thinker was created by Auguste Rodin in 1902. In that time Auguste works portray a wide range of human emotions often including defeat, pain and sorrow. The statuesque figure is wrought in the classical style while the pose was Rodin. The Thinker original name is the Poet. The pice was part of a commission by the Mus'ee des Arts De'coratifs the (Museum of Decorative Arts) in 1880 to grace the doors at the entrances to the museum. The Thinker was meant to embody the 1321 work the Devine Comedy. The Thinker was relief in a full-size in 1902 to create the finished statue, though the full-size casting of The Thinker was not shown until 1904. This statue inspired people worldwide for over 100 years and also a icon for the philosophy and the mental discipline.
