jewellery and you

The power point about jewellery was interesting because of all the different types of jewellery people wear like for example hip hop artist wearing thick gold chains massive diamond rings witch i think they must be rich or cultural people wearing jewellery because of what they believe in. I like how a artist like Eleanor Salazar made rings out of snooker balls, because i think it's creative using simple things like tiers, snooker balls from the pool table and fabric to make jewellery. When i see jewellery like gold rings, gold bracelets and gold wrist watches even diamond rings makes me wonder if its made out of real gold or silver even diamonds. I think jewellery that the punk people wear is disturbing and funny but i think to its just their style just like hip hop artist too they wear a lot jeweller more than punk rockers do.

artsit talk Estelle pemberton

I like Estelles work because i think shes a great designer when she makes purse. She makes Persis from recycled thing like old close and butten. i also like the other stuff apart from Persis that she has made like candle shades, remade her shoes and close out of silk scarfs. I wondered how she put together the frame and the pocket part. She sead to create the inside pocket first then the outside pocket for the purse.

Estelle is also a made a chandelier out of a dress for a fashion runway witch i thought was nice designed until she sead that they didn't wont to go with so she had leave aside. She says that she still got it sitting in her workshop.

four finished pages.

Looking back at how i started my zine i was not quite shoe where to start at first, but as the weeks went on i got to do workshop's that was given like page layouts, stenciling, photoshop, illustrator, indesinge and putting the pages together. In my zine i have used illustrator, indesinge and also hand drew my pages because in illustrator i find it easy to use to create my A5 pages like the hulk throwing away his spray can after finishing his tagging or graffiti on a wall.

I also drew some parts in my zine witch i am proud of because that's what i like doing in my spear time is drawing. The pages that i drew by hand is Superman holding a spray can with a piece of graffiti in the background and Captain America,s shield cutting red skull head off witch i think is violent but in funny way.

Also in illustrator i created my cover page, the tittle is called (hello my name is Hemi). I layed out superhero characters like Superman, Wolverine, Hulk and Batman and then pasted a hello sticker on the top because its a graffiti and characters from comics combined.
So over the past few weeks i have learnt bits and piece's to put together as one in my zine. The way I'm putting my zine together is i' going to sow my zine together.

My four pages from my zine.

The idea that i'm going with is a combination of graffiti artwork and characters from comic books like DC and Marvel. Because i like the two i thought i'l put them together in my zine.

For the quotes idea i thought i'l go with the Alice in Wonderland quotes because i think they are kinda funny to me and the quotes is also a inspiration as well because i like the way the actors use the quotes in the movie, so i thought i'l put them together and try come up with something in my zine.

An example that i'm using for quotes in zine from Alice in Wonderland are (Off with your head and down with the bloody red queen. Those quotes are the ones that i mostly because of how it's presented in the movie.

seraphine pick

I watched a Seraphine Pick dvd and i thought her work is amazing but weird. Because of this one painting that she painted was kind of freaky its called the Goya painting. I think that the Goya painting freaky because Seraphine painted it from her childhood memory. The painting is about a devil or demon eating children witch i think is sick. But i also like her other work compered to the Goya painting because i like the way she references pictures from from all over place like if she likes something that she see's shel take a photo of the image and download it to her computer then print it out and use it for her paintings.

barbara kruger

Barbara Kruger try's to engage the concept of power through text and image, using only three colours, which is red gray and black. She believes everybody got answers but is more interested in questions, question that provoke doubt. Doubt tempers belief with sanity in her work. I found the reading that we did in class interesting and challenging because of the massive words that she had quoted in the reading.

PowerPoint By Frances.

Power point on (18/07/11) by Frances was an inspirational because it got me thinking on how to start my zine and also what type of subject to use for my zine. I have not come up with an idea for my zine. In the PowerPoint Frances was saying that books used to be published by hand and how fonts changed though out the years like, Frances say, that bubble writing was popular in the 70s. I think that is true seeing it way back in the dark ages time calligraphy or old english was used most of the time.

Text and Image

I am using these three examples because i think that they interesting like this image of this guy it has text writing on his face. I think its a weird image but also interesting to look at. The grenade bomb i think its funny how the key bard forms the shape of the grenade.  I like the Giraffe and the elephant fighting over the job singe thinking that they acting like a bunch of animals just for a job. This guy looks like a zombi with words sticking out of his face but it also looks like a Van Gulf painting.

the thinker

The Thinker was created by Auguste Rodin in 1902. In that time Auguste works portray a wide range of human emotions often including defeat, pain and sorrow. The statuesque figure is wrought in the classical style while the pose was Rodin. The Thinker original name is the Poet. The pice was part of a commission by the Mus'ee des Arts De'coratifs the (Museum of Decorative Arts) in 1880 to grace the doors at the entrances to the museum. The Thinker was meant to embody the 1321 work the Devine Comedy. The Thinker was relief in a full-size in 1902 to create the finished statue, though the full-size casting of The Thinker was not shown until 1904. This statue inspired people worldwide for over 100 years and also a icon for the philosophy and the mental discipline.

Is art losing its value

I think an original artwork losses its value either its been stretched or the top part of the art work been cut to fit on paper, game covers, CD covers, DVD covers or on a poster and like this picture it has been reproduced many times, its also had other things added to the picture like words, change to the colors and adding other characters to make the picture look good. This picture looks like its lost its fetchers witch means its been cut down on the left side and its also lost its original colors. I think pictures loses its value and it also makes you wonder witch picture is the original. Its kinda hard to spot the value on the picture. I also think the original picture has its value if people look harder and spot its value in the artwork its self.

My idea for my painting

The idea i am going with is this superman ripping his shirt off and also paint a woman where the S logo is and paint the logo on her face just to show people who that  man is that is superman. My idea that I'm using is to relate my other two paintings that I'd done and thought i will combined them together so that my paintings relate to each other. The woman that I'm painting was out of this magazine that id ripped out of just so i can paint her and also have a chance to paint something that is actually real to paint in stead of a painted picture that spouse to be real. I used Joe Quesada for an idea in my last piece because the art work are both incoming with super hero's. The movement for my art work is Figurative. are two figures that are recognised superman and a woman.

moving art.

The idea in moving art is looking at a odd picture an seeing if it moves that's the key idea of what the artist is showing it also plays tricks on your mind by making you think if the image is moving. The key idea is illusion, this art work is an illusion and it makes people think when they look rely hard to see if it is moving. Some times art work like this makes you focus on that one little dot and your eyes See's another dot move and when you go to have a look it rely never moves that's what i mean when your mind plays tricks on you. The swerve lines and the dots creates the illusion when they look very fearfully at the picture. The key idea for this picture creates the use of flow witch makes the some of the line gets sucked into the center of the canvas.

This art movement work is the vibration (metal movement) 2006 from Monica Karppinen.

Edith Amituanai

Edith photos could be represented in a south auckland community because her photos that she takes, are of her island life style witch i think in most homes in the south auckland districts are kinda similar. Edith had taken a photo of her living room and she described how her family's living room look like. she also had taken photos of other family's living room witch also described how they live. i think to me her photos that she takes describe how some family's live different to others like in a cultural way or in a normal life style. i think her photos would good to represent the south auckland community because of the island cultural that most of the people are in.

ross brown

(Photography is, first of all, a way of seeing. It is not seeing itself. by Susan Sontag.) (Ross believes that advertising photography can be an art form in its own rights as an evident in his work. by Ross Brown) thats kinda the same as what ross dose with his work because he see's his work in a way for example he use's people and animals together in his photos. i like the way he combined animals with people because it shows how creative his with photos are. i like how he dose this photos that has a arm coming out of a new's paper with a train going past i think it is interesting how he made the photo like that, some times it makes me wonder how he makes photos like that because it changes reality in this way.

this photo that also makes me wonder how he dose the photos using the people and animals witch i think is cool, for example he has a photo of the all blacks i think having a game with lions witch i find interesting to me, also when he uses dancers in a photos its interesting to see a dancer hanging on a Carin. in advertising you don't often see adds in art gallery but you see them on billboard or t,v on posters and in the news paper but with art you don't really see them on billboard and on t,v. Ross is saying his advertising could be art if people stop and take a look at what the message he is tying to send like the all black taking on the lions, that might mean the all blacks are taking on a team from south africa because lions are from africa or it might mean that the all blacks are a strong team so they go and take on the lions.

the picnic

this image that i like shows how they all seem relaxed and happy.  i think the main focus in this photo graph is the farther and his kids. i see a girl with her back faced towards the camera as the for ground. mid ground that i see is the farther and the kids. in the background  their are more kids and adults out in the background also their is a person looking at the person taking the photo. i like how the little boy is relaxing right next to his dad it kinda makes me think that the dad and the little boy are rely connected to each other and so are the other kids.

Albrecht Durer

Albrecht painted himself using the traditional conventions like oil paint. Durer also used wood as paper or a canvas to paint on. painting a portrait of your self would be kinda hard because you have to paint your self without making a movement. i think when you do a self portrait painting its about memory as well because when you paint your self your moving as well. Albrecht Durer self portrait painting is one of the first ever self portrait paintings. Albrecht used the traditional conventions to paint him self witch made people think that albrecht was portraying Christ, because people used to paint traditional paintings like Christ and that .

sorting the art history

today we were looking the different types of artist work.  we were talking about the time line that the art work was painted in, for example the( Mona Lisa painting) painted by Leonardo da Vinci that painting was panted in (1505-1514 AD) and a sculpture called (Venus of Willendorf) was Done in (25000 BCE). today i had to get put into groups of pears and we had to work out the image, facts context and meanings. all the facts images context and meanings were all mixed up so we had to use the image and find the facts, meanings and contexts to the image. i found it a bit hard to do, then we had to put all the artist work in order by the painting year.

spoken poetry.

i thought the poetry was kinda boring to me because they were mostly talking about politics that I'm not interested in, but i would say, some of the spoken poetry was funny at the time then that's when i got bord. looking at the spoken poetry i think that poetry not only about rimes and singing its also about the message that they send out to people, see i always thought that it was about the poems that rimed until thay said that its not all rimes and that.

using grids

drawing the image on to a grid was kind of hard because their is to much detail to try copy from.

Grid Drawing

Looked at using the grid to enlarge our images for mix media exploration. here's a link i thought illustrated what we did today in class.
