I find the reading interesting, how he explains to people that he's a structural packaging designer. His posh title is a structural cardboard engineer that creates structures himself.  He thinks he is a packaging ninja slash wizard but not a box maker.  I find this reading hard to under stand but I think it's help full to read and get to under stand the artist.

Deskilled craft and Borrowed skill.
I think this reading is confusing, because at first it starts talking about a sensitive part of our body and how its the most important organ in our body, talking about hands.  I think this reading is weird but you relise, thinking to yourself, it is important and agreeing with the reading.  When you think about it, you see with your eyes, smell with your nose, tast with your mouth, hear with your ears and feel with your hands.  With hands you get to create or use them for everyday uses.  With out hands what would you do if you had none.

DRaW, Va.

I think the Va powerpoint was interesting, learning about the changes with, tapa cloth and the history on how the Tapa cloth was created. I was interested on how the Cook Island, made a tapa cloth using patchwork.  The patterns look square, but i wonder, when I look at this tapa cloth, how did they have a red image, with a cream color background.  No one quite knows when the patchwork started in the Cook Islands, it has been suggested that it was introduced soon after contact in 1823 by the wives of Tahitian missionaries who helped introduce Christianity to the Cook Islands.

DRaW, Representation

Representation is something like a painting of a pipe.  The French think that, this is not a pipe, it's a representation of a pipe.  But when you say pipe some people would think, strate away this is a pipe.

This Pipe represents the plumbing pips thats used for flowing water or waste as well.

This pipe represents a smoke pipe that smokers use to smoke their tabaco.

DRaW, Modernity

What is Modernity?  Modernity is an age that has wealthy people, famous battles, war and history, but back in the 1840's to 1960's their were artist, who painted this tradition of war, famous battles, history and wealthy people.  Artist who refused to paint the traditions, lost the privilege of painting for the rest of their lives.   In France their was a gallery called the Salon in France. Having your work put up in the salon was an achievement for artists.  The Industrial age saw the beginning of the new middle class, factory, workers and photography was invented.  With the invention of photography artists were given the chance to break with the tradition at function of painting. As photography was invented, artists no longer had look back at tradition and paint the wealthy, war, famous battles and history anymore, because photography could do what artists could do, take a photo of the traditional happenings.  But that’s where factories came in, making jobs for people, giving the poor a chance to make money that creates the middle class.  I think, if their was no change in Modernity we might still be living, ether very poor, or very wealthy.  What I think Modernity is, it's a change that happen in the 1840's to 1960's, also the break away from painting traditional things like, wealthy, history, war and famous battles.

DRaW, Appropiation

Is it appropriate to say, non Maori can have a taamoko, I think it is at some point, like if you would to have kids, an they are part Maori, I think you could wear a taamoko to represents your kids. But having a taamoko, it comes with history, because being a Maori you need to know where your from, so the artist knows what to draw. I remember this old fella telling my mum, that this young guy came to him asking if he could get a taamoko from him, and he asked him, ok where are you from, and he said, I dont no, so he told no I would not give you a taamoko, because he told him to go home and find out where your from. Then he would give him a taamoko. I also think non Maori should not have a taamoko, because they are not Maori and they are not from here, and theirs no point asking that non Maori where they are from, because the taamoko represents where the Maori's are from in New Zealand. But non Maori people have Maori patterns and it would mean something to them, but they can not say they have taamoko.

this is our first prop that my group did. this prop is to help support our body weight that our body was in when we played twister.

the changers that we made was a hammock idea that could help support us also give us comfort when we lie on the hammock. How we made the hammock was that we flipped the table over and use the legs for the structure or hold the the fabric as our hammock, then we used the rope to hold the fabric to the legs.

our improvement that we made was hard and fast because it was supposed to be handed in at 9am today, Friday 18 May, that's the reason for the hard and fast one.

Our next prop we had to make another hammock but constructing it using
2 words we picked that was subtract something and fragment. for fragment
we did the same idea with our first hammock but we added fragments like we
cut the fabric and used rope to make it look like the real hammock also drew on
some cracks because we did not want to make real cracks on the table.

our next hammock idea was subtract something, so we subtract a leg instead of having 4 legs we used 3 legs to make it look like a tripod but up side down. we made this in just an hour, but the hammock connection still we used the same solution like the other ones but made a 3 leg table, and we made a support structure to help the legs stand up.

These are examples that we did that messes with space and mass. I found this workshop funny because we had to create some funny shapes using a stretched material tube. It was hot inside the tube but it was allot of fun making some silly shapes.

We also used sticks and balloons to make evan more funny shapes, these shapes look interesting because of the curves, the twists, roundness of the this silly shape also this shape created something pointed or sharp looking that put the cheery on top.

DRaW, Artext

these are the three images that are similar or kind of the same.  I think these images are interesting because I like the old look of the mid evil idea, also shows creativity in the artwork. in a normal story book the books their would be a page with writing and a picture talking about the story. I think the illuminated text shows a story inside and around the letter that explains the story if you can't understand the language like the Monks language.

I like the design that's been put into these letters because each starting letter has allot going on like the amazing detail, it has something like vines growing around the starting letter and around the page that makes a border.

Back in the mid evil days illuminated text was printed by hand, and it also had taken hours to complet just one illuminated text. Also in the mid evil days books were made with the illuminated text as well, but these book were made for the wealthy people because the wealthy could read an they can afford to read. To make the illuminated text worth more, they could ad gold to the text. If I was to create a illuminated text, I would draw a parchment font letter then ad Maori patterns inside and around the letter.

DRaW, Interview

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rla9qxRoXis&feature=related

This interview is about two actors from a movie called The Avengers talking about the how great it was to act like big kids playing superhero and dressing up in their costumes.

I picked this interview because I my self wanted to know more about the movie that just came out this year and I find that the movie is interesting as well. What I found interesting was that the director of The Avengers put all the main characters together and as you watch the movie you would find it exciting to watch if you are really into comics.

One question I agreed with was the interview says, its a comic book fans dream to have all these big star actors, act in the same movie together witch made it more exciting even to watch. The actor Chris Evans says that as an actor you have to respect what the fans want, because they are the ones who would criticize about the movie and I think that is true. I think the people are the boss to movies because they are the ones who pay watch the movies

I think these questions are easy to answer because its simple and easy to reply too, also its the questions that fans would look forward to hear. Like other interviews I think its hard to try reply back with the answer because, if it was me I wouldn't know what to say with a hard question, but I think being an actor your suppose to be prepared for thing like hard questions.

I think this interview was great also interesting because the interviewer asked a question about one part in the movie, the fight scene, where no one wins a fight between Thor, Captain America, Ironman and Hulk because they all have to get along as a superhero group.

DRaW, Research

What I think research is. Research is a use full tool to have as well, because it helps you find out more information about something or someone. I think research is good to have in memory because you can use it to prove people wrong if they think they know things about something or someone. Research is used in allot of things, like a famous persons history, essay's and book work for your self.  Research can be provided to you in different ways like using the computer, reading books or people explaining what they know and shearing the information with you also, experiencing something can be part of research. The way I research is I find someone or something that I'm interested in and I collect a series of their work
and write about how it makes me feel and also find out the history about the artist. When it comes to research you could gain skills, like tracing an image that you like or copying that image of your choice

Research also comes with brainstorming for ideas to help plan what you need like a word bank, mind map and glossary Where I would look for my research would be in the library, Internet, movies and music. Doing readings is helpful for research because it has allot information about what the reading says, where their is a reading their are comment codes that help you find interesting facts or facts that are not interesting. Movies are useful when it comes to researching because it has allot of facts that are interesting, like I was to watch a super hero movie like the Avengers, that movie would tell me its based on a comic book from Marvel. With music artist like to sample music from other artist like New Zealand Hip Hop artist (PNC) he sampled a song from (The Temptations, Treat her like a lady) and put his spin on the song, so when it come to something like that, sampling music you got to make sure that you write who, what and where the music originated from. That's where resourcing plays a good part in the researching life.

askew1

On Thursday I went to a art gallery in town. I went to go see Askew1 artwork  at the Australian art gallery and his show was called the Smoke Effect.  What I expected to see from artist was what he mostly dose, witch is graffiti.  The paintings that he made was alright because to me the paintings look kind of like his graffiti work, the type of graffiti style he dose, but because I'm not that interested in graffiti, like I was be for, but what I did find interesting was, all his paintings, the black part, looked like it was screen printed and the hole thing in color was hand painted. I would say that the hole day was kind of a waste of day but i think at the end of the day we as a class we got to go on a trip. I was disappointed that we had to make our own way out into town. We also got to visit other gallery's like Fingers and the other gallery's close to the fingers gallery. We saw Bepen's artwork of a man and a woman on those workout bikes with their eyes wiped out, so its just their face with no eyes. At first I was like, what is this all about, then Bepen was saying that his pice was about how their are always Hollywood people in workout adds that he would just be funny to wipe the eye from the man and woman face. Later that day we had a lunch break, then we had a choice to ether go visiting other gallery's or just go home. After lunch I made up my mined to go back to school to finish off some work of my own. This picture (it is the gift and the curse) it was up in his exhibition. This was also the painting at Askew exhibition and its one of all paintings that the black looks like its been screen printed. I wanted to touch this painting because it looked like it was painted with oils.

Daniel Govar

This is the  artwork that I chose, I thought it was interesting. I like dragon art work just like comic art work because I like to draw dragons just like drawing super hero's, it helps me get a better understanding of how the dragon structure or scale would look like if I was to draw a dragon. How I would draw a dragon is that I would need a picture of a dragon then draw it and I would have the structure or scale of a dragon in my head then I would draw a different version of a dragon from memory in my ideal way, that the same way of how I would draw super hero's.

I think this image was sketched first then either photoshopped or hand painted. Think it was photoshopped then hand painted, if I painted this picture I would do both. I would paint the sketch then photoshop the images to clean up or add abit more detail to the artwork.

The changes I would make to this artwork. I would draw a dragon like one of these ones, in his battle stance, with Thor also in his fighting stance getting ready to have a battle with the dragon. I like the character of Thor that why I chose Daniel, to talk about because he has skills when it comes to illustrating.

The type of materials that Daniel would use would be water paint, pencil, pen ink and paper. These material I would use for illustration work because it seems faster when it comes to using water paint because it could color in the image that I would paint alot faster, then using the sharp end pen for better detail in the image. I am not much of a background drawer but I like some background depending on the idea if I would like it. I don't really like this background because its just boring. I like the dark kind of backgrounds with fire as well because it where the dragons belong.
